About the Badge
The Quilt Historian Badge invites members to follow the thread backward and explore the stories, people, techniques, and traditions that shaped quilting. This badge can be earned through museum research, books, interviews, family stories, historic blocks, old patterns, or any quilting rabbit hole that makes you say, “Wait, I need to know everything about this.”
Badge Requirements
- Choose one quilting history topic to explore, such as a traditional block, a quilter, a technique, a textile tradition, a family quilt, or a quilt movement.
- Research your topic using at least two sources, such as books, articles, interviews, museum collections, videos, or family records.
- Document what you learn through notes, sketches, photos, or a logbook entry.
- Identify at least one way your topic connects to modern quilting or your own creative practice.
-
Reflect on why this piece of quilting history feels worth remembering.
Badge Options
Choose the version that fits your badge-collecting style.
Embroidered Patch
The embroidered Quiltbound badge is made with high-quality embroidery on a twill backing and measures 2" x 2".
This patch is designed to be sewn on, so you can attach it to a quilted tote, project pouch, denim jacket, badge banner, or wherever you’re keeping track of your quilting adventures.
Please note: this is not an iron-on patch.
Vinyl Sticker
The vinyl sticker version measures 2" x 2" and is a fun, easy way to celebrate your badge without picking up a needle.
Add it to a water bottle, laptop, sewing machine case, notebook, project bin, or anywhere you want a little Quiltbound trail marker.
Patch + Sticker Bundle
Can’t pick between the patch and sticker? Honestly, same.
The bundle includes both the embroidered patch and the vinyl sticker, so you can sew one onto your favorite project bag and stick the other wherever it brings you joy. Tiny badge dopamine, basically.

A Little Badge Note
These badges are meant to be earned, collected, and celebrated. Whether you’re learning a new technique, finishing a long-lost project, or trying something that feels just a tiny bit outside your comfort zone, your badge is a small but mighty reminder that you took the scenic route and did the thing.
