Quiltbound Membership
Start Something Local
Quiltbound Chapters bring quilters together in real life through meetups, sew days, workshops, and shared creative adventures. If you’d love to create that kind of community in your area, you can start a Chapter.
You Don’t Need a Huge Plan to Get Started
Some Chapters meet in quilt shops. Some are hosted by fabric stores. Some begin with one motivated member who simply wants to gather other quilters and make something meaningful together.
There’s no one right way to run a Quiltbound Chapter. The goal is simple: create a welcoming local space for quilters to connect, sew, learn, and participate in the Quiltbound community in real life.
If that sounds like something you’d love to build, you’re in the right place.
Who can start a Chapter?
-
Quilt Shops
Own a quilt shop or fabric store? A Chapter can be a fun, community-focused way to bring people into your space and create recurring events your customers look forward to.
-
Current Members
If you’re a current Quiltbound member with big community-builder energy, you can apply to start a Chapter too.
-
Creative Go-Getters
You do not need a giant audience or a perfectly polished plan. You just need a willingness to gather people and help things get rolling.
What Chapter Hosts Do
As a Chapter host, you’re the local point person for bringing the community to life.
That might look like:
- organizing casual meetups or sew days
- planning badge-related gatherings or themed events
- sharing local event details with your group
- welcoming new people and helping them feel included
- keeping the Chapter active, friendly, and fun
You do not need to run a huge operation, teach formal classes, or host elaborate events every month. Chapters can be simple. A cozy meetup around a table absolutely counts.
What You’ll Get as a Chapter Host
You won’t be figuring this out alone. As a Chapter host, you’ll have support, ideas, and a built-in community to help you get started and keep things running smoothly.
- Monthly ideas + prompts
Simple ways to bring badges, themes, and seasonal inspiration into your meetups—without overcomplicating things. - Chapter host Circle group
A private space just for hosts to share ideas, ask questions, and swap what’s working (and what’s not). - Event + meetup inspiration
Low-effort ideas for sew days, swaps, and gatherings you can actually pull off in real life. - Visibility on the Chapters map
Your Chapter will be listed so local quilters can find you and join in. - Connection to the bigger community
Your Chapter becomes part of something larger—linking your local group to the Quiltbound experience.
Start simple, keep it fun, and build from there. You don’t need to have everything figured out to begin.
A Chapter Can Be Simple
Your Chapter does not need to look like anyone else’s. You can start small and grow over time. In fact, that’s probably the best way to do it.

Chapter Host FAQs
Do I have to own a quilt shop to start a Chapter?
Nope. Quilt shops and fabric stores make wonderful hosts, but ambitious members can apply too.
Do I need to be a current Quiltbound member?
Yes. Chapter hosts must be active Quiltbound members.
Do Chapter participants need to be Quiltbound members?
Yes. Chapters are a member benefit, so participants should be current Quiltbound members.
How often do Chapters need to meet?
That’s flexible. Some Chapters may meet monthly, while others gather more casually. The goal is consistency, not perfection.
Do I need to teach classes?
No. You can, but you do not have to. Many Chapters are centered around casual meetups, sewing together, and community-building.
Can I start small?
Absolutely. Starting small is encouraged. A simple gathering is more than enough to begin.
Is there support for hosts?
Yes. Hosts receive guidance, ideas, and support to help them get their Chapter off the ground.
What if there’s already a Chapter near me?
That depends on location and setup, but it’s still worth applying or reaching out. In some cases, it may make more sense to join an existing Chapter.
