Needle and Vinyl Badge

About the Badge

The Needle and Vinyl Badge invites members to try sewing with vinyl, clear vinyl, faux leather, or another nontraditional material that behaves a little differently than quilting cotton. This badge is about experimenting with tools, adjusting your usual habits, and making something sturdy, useful, or delightfully shiny. Vinyl may be a tiny diva, but it can make a really good project.

Badge Requirements

• Choose a project that includes vinyl or a similar nontraditional material, such as a pouch, tote, wallet, bag, label pocket, or organizer.
• Learn at least two tips or techniques for sewing with vinyl, such as needle choice, presser foot choice, stitch length, clips instead of pins, or tension adjustments.
• Test your stitching on a scrap or small sample before sewing the final project.
• Sew and finish your vinyl project.
• Make a note about what worked best and what you would do differently next time.
  

Badge Options

Embroidered Patch

The embroidered Quiltbound badge is made with high-quality embroidery on a twill backing and measures 2" x 2".

This patch is designed to be sewn on, so you can attach it to a quilted tote, project pouch, denim jacket, badge banner, or wherever you’re keeping track of your quilting adventures.

Vinyl Sticker
