Peppermint S’mores Recipe

Peppermint S’mores Recipe

Megan Fowler

A cozy campfire classic with a holiday twist.

There are some recipes that barely count as recipes, and honestly? Those might be my favorite kind.

Peppermint s’mores are exactly that kind of holiday magic. A little chocolate graham cracker. A little peppermint bark. A toasted marshmallow doing what toasted marshmallows do best. Suddenly you have a tiny winter dessert that feels like it should be eaten in wool socks while someone is pretending they’re “just going to watch one more holiday movie.”

Classic s’mores already have that campfire nostalgia baked right in, but this version gives them a chilly little peppermint twist. They’re sweet, gooey, chocolatey, and ridiculously easy to make in the oven, which is excellent news for those of us who love the idea of a winter campfire but not necessarily the part where we lose feeling in our toes.

This recipe was originally part of the Quiltbound digital advent calendar, and it’s the kind of treat that fits right in with a December sewing day, a movie night, or a “we need something festive but I am not dirtying every bowl in this kitchen” moment.

Peppermint S’mores Recipe

Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 3 to 5 minutes
Makes: 4 s’mores

Ingredients

  • 8 chocolate graham cracker squares
  • 4 squares peppermint bark
  • 4 large marshmallows

Directions

Preheat your oven to 400°F.

Line a small baking sheet with foil or parchment paper.

Place 4 chocolate graham cracker squares on the baking sheet. Top each one with a square of peppermint bark and one large marshmallow.

Bake for 3 to 5 minutes, or until the marshmallows puff up and turn lightly golden on top. Keep an eye on them because marshmallows like to go from “perfectly toasted” to “campfire chaos” with very little warning.

Remove the pan from the oven and top each s’more with the remaining graham cracker squares.

Press down gently, then let them cool for a minute before serving. The peppermint bark will be melty, the marshmallow will be gooey, and your restraint may be limited. Very normal.

Easy Swap

No peppermint bark? No problem.

Use a square of dark chocolate or milk chocolate, then sprinkle crushed candy canes over the top before adding the marshmallow. It gives you the same peppermint-chocolate situation without needing the fancy stuff.

Make It Extra Cozy

These are especially fun to make during a holiday sewing day, after wrapping gifts, or while working on a winter quilt project. I feel like a tiny festive snack makes almost any creative side quest feel more official.

Serve them with hot cocoa, peppermint tea, or coffee if you’re in your “holiday cheer but also caffeine” era.

A Tiny Quiltbound Challenge

Make a batch of peppermint s’mores during your next cozy sewing session and snap a photo of your snack break.

Bonus points if there’s a quilt, a half-finished project, or a suspiciously ambitious stack of fabric nearby. Those are the true signs of the season.

Want More Quilty Holiday Fun?

This recipe was originally part of the Quiltbound digital advent calendar, a cozy little countdown filled with quilty projects, festive treats, and creative surprises for the holiday season.

Because sometimes the best part of December is giving yourself permission to make something small, sweet, and wildly unnecessary in the best possible way.
